This place is a fascinating little gem. The only way I've even heard about it is because I work for the military and the museum has a medical theme. Had a guided tour and I was enthralled. It has recently been renovated and presented in a chronological manner. On a military base but open to the public.
This is a fantastic museum to visit.I recommend it. The museum focused on warfare and did not feature anything about the BAOR (British Army of the Rhine) which was a large part of post World War Two medical history for soldiers and their families.I particularly liked the Shrapnel bomb, correctly described ie with a delayed fuse which then exploded overhead.
A very interesting museum, although I only spent a very little time there, would have liked longer.
Having served in the Corps for ep years it holds a fascination for me. Took the wife on her first visit and she enjoyed it immensely. Logical time line for the exhibits if you follow the recommended route.A small shop is there as well as an archive of RAMC publications. The books on sale are very interesting on the them if medical services and nursing.Soon this will move to Cardiff as the Barracks will no longer belong to the Army Medical Services.Also the location for filming Soldier Soldier.
